My name is Matt and this is my blog.

I'm designing a vocational program for adults with developmental disabilities at a non-profit in Plano and my wife teaches at a daycare in Las Colinas.

I enjoy reading, writing, and thinking.
I run. A lot. Like Forrest, only I shave.
I like bacon, coffee, and peanut butter.
I love Jesus, His Church and my wife.

    Proverbs 30:7-9 (ESV)

    Two things I ask of you;
    deny them not to me before I die:
    Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
    give me neither poverty nor riches;
    feed me with the food that is needful for me,
    lest I be full and deny you
    and say, “Who is the Lord?”
    or lest I be poor and steal
    and profane the name of my God.

    The first time I saw that simple video made on an airplane, I blew it off. But then God moved me out of the comfort and care-free lifestyle of a well-paying job. Suddenly, trusting and relying on God had a whole new meaning. Suddenly, wondering how we’d spend money each month became how would we even make it each month. But nevertheless, this simple Proverb became our prayer. And for that, I’m eternally thankful. Why?

    Because God answered it! He provided for us...enough. Not riches. Not poverty. Enough!

    Knowing that gave the My Hymnbook project a new vision. Instead of trying to fatten our bank account from some simple songs, why not give it away? That’s why as we decided to make the songs available for purchase, I began to seek counsel from pastors and mentors about ways to see them accomplish something big.

    It is [just about] finished! The CD is done, lyrics have been typed and the album artwork is nearing completion.  It will pre-release at http://myhymnbook.com on September 14th and then release on all the other platforms (iTunes, Amazon, etc) on September 28th. So where, then, will the money go?

    If you purchase it on my website (myhymnbook.com) 100% of the proceeds will be broken down as follows:

    • $1 - Walnut Valley Baptist Church, Hot Springs, Arkansas
    • $1 - Costs for production, fees, etc.
    • $8 - Renovation Church, Atlanta, Georgia

    If you wait for the music to hit iTunes and so forth, this is the breakdown:

    • $3 - iTunes
    • $1 - Walnut Valley Baptist Church, Hot Springs, Arkansas
    • $1 - Costs for production, fees, etc.
    • $5 - Renovation Church, Atlanta, Georgia

    This project isn’t about me. It’s about seeing the Body of Christ come together around the Gospel, hymns and raising money for local, national and global needs. Each subsequent CD will alternate between a local, national (like a church planting network or ministry) and a global need (missionary or other ministry). My prayer is that you will consider purchasing these simple songs to help fund some amazing projects that seek to make much of an amazing God.

    Will you join me?
