My name is Matt and this is my blog.
I'm designing a vocational program for adults with developmental disabilities at a non-profit in Plano and my wife teaches at a daycare in Las Colinas.
I enjoy reading, writing, and thinking.
I run. A lot. Like Forrest, only I shave.
I like bacon, coffee, and peanut butter.
I love Jesus, His Church and my wife.
We’ve enjoyed a month of sunrises in the DFW Metroplex now, many coming on beautiful morning runs on the Good Link Trail that snakes through some of my old sports stomping grounds. We’ve been readjusting well, especially with more things coming together. Here’s a few updates along those lines…
Jobs
I’ve adjusted well to the new place (My Possibilities) in Plano and am looking forward to launching the new program in 2012. Rebecca is in her second week at a daycare (Bright Horizons) in Las Colinas, and has been blown away by how much she enjoys working there. I’m still waiting to hear back from a church, which yay or nay will significantly speed up our transition.
Home
Our house still hasn’t sold, but we continue to pray that it will. It was showing so often, we began to think we’d have an offer any minute. Until then, we’re in a wait-and-see staying with my parents in Grand Prairie. We’ve been approved to be a CARES Team through Apartment Life, and will be choosing the city once we find out on the youth position at a church. This also means some difficult decisions in regards to some of our dogs.
Church
We’ve been worshiping with FBC Grand Prairie, my home church growing up. Rebecca plays the flute in the orchestra, I play the drums, and occasionally I’ll sing in the choir. Pretty soon (perhaps even this weekend) we’ll be visiting some other churches in the Plano area. It’s certainly been a blessing to be back.
Running
I didn’t miss a beat on my Little Rock Marathon training when we moved back, and the nice weather certainly helped. On Saturday I ran my first half marathon in under 2 hours and 30 minutes, and on Wednesday I set another PR for my 5K with a time just seconds above 27 minutes. My times have been improving, but my enjoyment of the sport has gone off the charts. It’s amazing what 60 degrees (or below!) will do for ya.
Prayer Requests
Grace and Peace,
Matt
