My name is Matt and this is my blog.
I'm designing a vocational program for adults with developmental disabilities at a non-profit in Plano and my wife teaches at a daycare in Las Colinas.
I enjoy reading, writing, and thinking.
I run. A lot. Like Forrest, only I shave.
I like bacon, coffee, and peanut butter.
I love Jesus, His Church and my wife.
I was pleasantly surprised and grateful to see many of my friends posting things for which they were thankful throughout the month of November. Though thankfulness ought to be our heartbeat year-round, it was nice to see so much thankfulness in my feed…it certainly beat FarmVille, politics, and football. After a day or two, I was suckered in as well…the following are the 30 things that I gave thanks for this month:
1. The Triune God 2. who saved me 3. keeps me 4. and will never let me out of His grasp. 5. My beautiful wife 6. who loves me 7. serves me 8. follows me 9. and never ceases to exude joy. 10. Faithful parents 11. who adopted me 12. love me 13. and always point me to Christ. 14. The encouragement of friends 15. the fellowship of Believers 16. and encounters with the broken, wandering, or lost. 17. Running 18. losing weight 19. and still being able to eat a big pile of bacon (because of 17.) 20. I am also thankful for coffee 21. tea 22. and great books to enjoy along with either of the two. 23. A great job 24. phenomenal coworkers 25. and the privilege of equipping adults with developmental disabilities to reach their vocational goals. 26. Miscarriages that hurt, but pointed us to Christ. 27. Job losses that led to even greater things for our good. 28. Moving to Texas to be closer to and serve our families. 29. A free place to stay while we try to sell our house in Arkansas. 30. And finally, for a God who gives unimaginable, unfathomable, undeserving, and uncountable reasons to give thanks year-round.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV)
